The research, plainly

Darley and Latané's emergency experiments found helping rates collapsing as group size grew — participants who believed others could hear a crisis responded far less than those who believed they were alone. Responsibility divided is responsibility dissolved.

What it means for events

'The team will follow up' is a sentence that produces nothing. Every action item, question prompt, and post-event commitment needs a name, a date, and a witness — because a room asked collectively has answered: someone else.

Where to run it

Action assignment

Close every session by naming owners out loud: who, what, by when. Group intentions must be converted before the room disperses.

Q&A design

'Does anyone have questions?' diffuses; 'Table three, what's your question?' assigns. Structure beats invitation.
