The research, plainly
Oppezzo and Schwartz tested creative output while sitting versus walking — treadmill or outdoors, it barely mattered. Walking roughly doubled creative idea generation, and the boost lingered briefly after sitting back down. Motion unlocks divergence.

What it means for events
The brainstorm doesn't need a better conference room; it needs to leave the conference room. Build movement into the thinking parts of your agenda — the walking pair, the moving tour, the standing sprint — and harvest the ideas when they sit back down.
Where to run it
Workshop design
Walking pairs for divergence, seated tables for convergence: generate on foot, decide in chairs.
Offsites
The trail conversation is the format — the agenda item IS the walk. Some of the year's best decisions happen at 3 mph.
Venue selection
A walkable loop adjacent to the meeting space is a feature worth paying for. Ask for it in the RFP.
